Chief Secretary SK Joshi directed GHMC to expedite works

Chief Secretary SK Joshi directed Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to expedite works for making alternative arrangements near Salar Jung Museum for hawkers as part of the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project (CPP).

Inspecting the CPP works early on Saturday, he instructed the civic body officials to make alternative arrangements for hawkers ensuring that they do not lose their livelihood due to CPP. He was accompanied by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Secretary Arvind Kumar and senior officials from GHMC.

During the inspection, Joshi visited Laad Bazaar, Murghi Chowk and other areas, and inspected the granite pavement works taken up in the Charminar buffer zone, besides the works from Sardar Mahal to Lad Bazaar. He instructed the officials to complete the works as per schedule without compromising on quality. Briefing about the works being taken up, Arvind Kumar said all the outlets on the either side of Lad Bazaar will have uniform name boards designs, besides elevation.

At Charminar, the Chief Secretary along with the officials relished a cup of Irani tea. Later, he visited Moazzam Jahi Market too. Arvind Kumar briefed him about the restoration works being executed for the heritage structure.
