KCR Ordered on agriculture officers to address letters

To instil confidence in farmers, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday asked agriculture officers to address letters to each one of them in the State with the signature of the Agriculture Minister about the steps taken by the government for their welfare.

At a meeting with senior agriculture officers, Mr. Rao called for involvement of agriculture extension officers to train farmers in cultivating profitable crops and weaning them away from traditional methods of cultivation. The AEOs should be equipped with all information about farming in their clusters of 5,000 acres each. The Minister mut access the information on his computer.

The AEOs should also coordinate marketing of produce brought by farmers. It was their responsibility to ensure that the insurance amount of 5 lakh on the death of insured farmers reached the nominees. They should collect nominee details during the lifetime of farmers. They should not work as officers but motivators.Mr. Rao assured adequate budgetary support to mechanisation of agricultural operations next year. The mechanisation must happen right from raising nurseries to harvesting in all the mandals.Mr. Rao wanted meetings in all villages for distribution of insurance bonds which would take place from August 15.
