People to use social media to solve public issues

Municipal Administration and Urban Development department would now interact with citizens through social media to resolve their issues instantaneously.Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, while reviewing the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, suggested the officials to use social media platforms to solve the issues of citizens. He asked the officials to respond to any complaint made by the public on social media and ensure that the work was done immediately. 


He also suggested the officials to post the photographs of the works taken up and completed during a particular period. “Take pictures before commencement of works and after the work gets completed so as to have an impact,” said Kumar. 


The Principal Secretary asked the engineers to be in touch with their colleagues in the metro water works and see that there was coordination while taking up works. He asked them to take up road works only after water board works were completed. 


Arvind Kumar took stock of the progress achieved in the completion of works under various wings like GHMC, water board and others. He directed the officials to ensure that all the ongoing works are completed by October-end. He further said that road widening, footpath construction and restoration should be taken up immediately. The Principal Secretary asked the officials not to take up any road works during the rainy season. 


He said that laying of BT roads could be taken up after the end of rainy season. Stating that he would conduct surprise inspections frequently in the city, Kumar asked them to bring to the notice of higher ups if there were any problems in execution of works. He directs the officials to ensure quality of works and emphasised on the need to stick to timelines and see to it that all works were completed as per the timelines set by the officials. 


HRDC Chief Engineer Mohan Naik informed that all the works were going on at a brisk pace and will be completed on time. Water board MD Dana Kishore informed that for the road restoration for below 300 mm pipeline trenches, of the 683.19 km total length of excavation on BT or CC roads, restoration has been completed in respect to 677.69 km and the balance would be completed very soon. Likewise, in respect of road restoration for above 300 mm pipeline trenches, 131.44 km length road has been restored out of the total length excavation of 160.23 km BT/CC roads and the balance of 28.79 km restoration would be completed shortly.
