GHMC encroachment clearance: Nearly 4,000 illegal units removed

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been removing illegal structures and several other dwellings and shops from footpaths all over the city. Uptil now it has removed at least 4,000 such illegal units from footpaths. It has cleared the roadside at Erragadda market yard, giving room for pedestrians to walk. The area was earlier occupied by fruit pushcart vendors. Some disputes are arising among those who are occupying footpaths, during the drive. Pedestrains however welcomed the move as it has freed space for them.
