T-Wallet facility inaugurated at Old metro office in Lakdikapul

Transport minister Mahender Reddy inaugurated the T-Wallet facility at the Old Metro Office in Lakdikapul on Monday. Later in the day, he also inaugurated Madhani Bus Terminal Complex at Santoshnagar, along with MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.


Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the Midhani Bus Terminal was constructed at a total cost of Rs 8.67 crore. The government is constructing bus terminals at eight key places in the city in order to improve the public transport services in Greater Hyderabad. The Centre is supporting the efforts with funds to the tune of Rs 81.52 crores under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), he said.


While 35 per cent of the cost is born by the Centre, the state government contributes 15 per cent and the rest of 50 per cent is by the Road Transportation Corporation (RTC), Mr Reddy said. The works have already begun at Koti, Patancheru, Kukkatpally, ECIL, Farooq Nagar, Kachiguda, and Hayath Nagar, he said.


The minister said Chief Minister M. Chandrasekhar Rao was allotting crores of rupees for the development of the old city. The plans are to introduce mini buses for city transportation and build bus shelters at important places, he said.


The minister also promised basic amenities at all bus stands and said that the CM is spending Rs 26,000 crore for construction of flyovers to ease city traffic.
