Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), KT Rama Rao directed the officials of Musi Riverfront Development Project and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to take special steps for removal of unauthorized constructions that along the sides of River Musi.
The Hyderabad District administration will identify the encroachments along the sides Musi and carry out the full-fledged enumeration, those persons who are staying for a long time, proper rehabilitation needs to be provided to them and in this connection, he asked the officials to prepare an action plan for their rehabilitation. Those poor families who are staying here for their livelihoods should be accommodated in JNNURM Housing or VAMBAY schemes.
GHMC starts removal of C&D waste from Musi
GHMC initiated the process of removing the accumulated construction and debris waste from Musi river by pressing JCBs. It is estimated that about 12 lakh metric tonnes of construction and debris waste are dumped along 57 km stretch. The MRDP is aimed at revitalizing 57.5 km stretch that falls within Hyderabad Metropolitan Area. It covers existing channels as well as the future development of the city.
