Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao on Wednesday said the government was considering carrying out the comprehensive health checkup of every individual in the State in the near future.

According to 2011 census, the population of the State is 3.60 crore. The government would carry out health checkup, BP, diabetics and other diseases and maintain health profile of every individual as was being done in the West, the Minister said.

Besides maintaining health profile, the government would carry out health checkup every year and provide treatment to people on its own expenses, Rama Rao said while launching the Rythu Bhima insurance scheme in Therlumaddi of Mustabad mandal.

Talking about eye-testing programme ‘Kanti Velugu’ to be launched on August 15, KTR wanted the eye test to be done first on opposition leaders who were unable to see the developmental works taken up by the Telangana government. “They (the opposition) will be able to see the development if their eyes are treated in the camps,” he said.

Asking the farmers to remove automatic starters fixed to agricultural pump sets, Minister opined that groundwater has been drawn indiscriminately following the supply of 24 hours power supply to the agriculture sector.

Motors would run without any disturbance until the borewell was dried up thus depletion of groundwater table. As a result, scarcity of drinking water has been cropped in rural areas. So, farmers should remove starters and utilise current whenever they required, he said.

He promised to quench the thirst of the district people by bringing Mission Bhagiratha water to each and every village by August 15 and every house by Dipawali.

Farmers faced severe hardships due to lack of electricity in Congress regime. In the entire country, Telangana was the only State which introduced a number of innovative schemes for the welfare of farmers and agriculture sector.

In order to develop confidence among the farmers and their family members, the government has introduced an insurance facility to farmers under Rythu Bhima. Under the scheme, the government paid Rs 2,271 to LIC on behalf of every farmer.

Whether it was an accident or natural death, kin of the deceased farmers would get Rs 5 lakh within ten days of their demise. To bail out farmers from debts, Rs 8,000 per acre have also been provided under Rythu Bandhu scheme, he informed. Out of 95,000 farmers, 92,000 of them withdrew money from banks. About 92 crore was paid to farmers in the district alone.
