Over 1 lakh posts notified by Telangana govt

The formation of Telangana has ushered in a new era of employment for youngsters in the country’s youngest State, with over 1.1 lakh posts being notified over the last four years.Ever since the TRS government took over the reins of the State, job notifications have become a regular feature. So far, the recruitment has been made to 55,806 posts in various departments while the recruitment to another 54,441 posts is under process. 


This process is set to be completed by December, taking the total number of posts to which recruitments have been made over one lakh, 1,10,217 to be precise, thus realising the promise of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao that the TRS government would provide one lakh jobs once it came to power.


Since the constitution of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), the commission alone issued a record number of 100 direct recruitment notifications for filling up 36,158 posts. It also issued 28 notifications, including for half yearly, Rashtriya Indian Military College, departmental and career advancement schemes.


As many as 10,980 posts were filled in the Police Department while the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board initiated the recruitment process for another 18,428 various posts, including those of police constables, sub-inspectors, deputy jailors, and reserve sub-inspectors of police among others. The examination for these posts will commence next week and the recruitment process is slated to be completed by March 2019.


This apart, with the agriculture sector being accorded top priority, some 2,100 agriculture extension officers were appointed by the State. Likewise, recruitment to about 2,000 various posts for Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya was also completed.


For empowering and strengthening gram panchayats, a total of 6,603 panchayat secretary posts have been created by the government, for which notification will be issued shortly.


This apart, after establishing the highly successful residential schools under various educational institution societies under the KG to PG free education scheme, the government sanctioned about 18,000 posts, including those of teaching and non-teaching staff.


The focus is also being laid on strengthening government schools with recruitment to 8,792 teachers through the Teacher Recruitment Test being in the final stage. The government also sanctioned recruitment to 1,061 professor, associate professor and assistant professor posts.


Though State universities are ready to release notifications, the process is being held up due to a directive of the University Grants Commission over a case on reservation for SC/ST pending before the Supreme Court.


All these, when only 24,000 posts were filled by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh in 10 years from 2004 to 2014.
