Harish Rao plans to create "Spoorthi Vanam"

On the lines of Smrithivanam, where one plants saplings in memory of departed family members, Irrigation Minister, T Harish Rao has asked officials to create a ‘Spoorthi Vanam’ in Siddipet town to facilitate the people plant a saplings on birthdays.The park will be first of its kind of park in Telangana. Of late, planting a sapling on birthday has become part of birthday celebrations following the call made by the Minister. The Minister, who plants a sapling on his birthday, had called upon his followers to make planting saplings on birthday part of birthday celebrations.

His followers posts a picture of sapling plantation on WhatsApp group created by them, the Minister sends them birthday wishes without giving a miss. Since that has slowly transformed into a movement, the Minister has asked the officials to create a park for planting saplings on birthdays exclusively in Siddipet.

Addressing the stakeholders of ‘Telangana Ku Haritha Haram’, Rao directed officials to make all arrangements for planting 50,000 saplings in Siddipet town and 1.5 lakh saplings under Siddipet Development Authority Area.Since the town has planted enough saplings during the four green drives, Rao observed that this year’s Haritha Haram should be the last plantation drive. He called upon the people to make the town into a ‘Haritha Siddipet’.
