Gates of Srisailam Dam opened for the first time

Sat, Oct 14 : Due to heavy inflows of flood waters, seven gates of Srisailam Dam, in Andhra Pradesh (AP) have been opened, letting out over two lakh cusecs of water to the lower regions. As such water levels in Nagarjunsagar too are rising steadily.
This is the first time in three years that the gates of Srisailam Dam have opened. Heavy rains and floods in Karnataka as well as in the catchment areas in Rayalaseema, has led to increasing inflows to the Nagarjunasagar Dam.
