SI and Constable held for accepting bribe

Hyderabad: SI M Sarangapani and constable K Kiran Kumar of Mirchowk police station were caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, while accepting a bribe amount of Rs 50,000 from the victim. The 2009 batch SI demanded Rs 2 lakh from the victim for settling a court referred cheating case, in which the latter was due to receive money from the opposite party.


The victim Kotte Anil Kumar came to the police station to handover the bribe amount to the SI, but the SI suggested he handover the amount outside the station and assigned the task to constable Kiran. However, ACB sleuths caught Kiran in the act and based on his confession, nabbed Sarangapani.Interestingly, Sarangapani had received appreciation certificate from the then Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahendar Reddy for meritorious services.
