As a prelude to ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by the CPI (Maoist) on January 31 in protest against ‘Operation SAMADHAN’, Centre’s anti-Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) strategy, Maoist rebels have embarked on a campaign by putting up posters in various parts of Bhadrachalam Agency.

Posters bearing the name of the CPI (Maoist) outfit reportedly surfaced at R. Kothagudem in Charla mandal in the early hours of Friday.

A pamphlet in the name of Maoists reportedly sprang up on a wall at the toilet on the premises of the bus stand in the temple town of Bhadrachalam in the wee hours of the day, sources said.

The rebels, though the posters, urged people to observe a week-long campaign from January 25 and a nation-wide bandh on January 31 against ‘Operation SAMADHAN’ and ‘fascist tendencies’ of the persons at the helm ‘targeting’ Adivasis and intellectuals those spearheading the cause of oppressed sections, sources added.

An uneasy calm pervaded the border mandals in Bhadrachalam Agency with the rebels stepping up their poster campaign to make the ensuing Bharat Bandh a success and police intensifying security measures in areas adjoining long border with Chhattisgarh.
